O U R S T O R Y

When my husband and I bought our first home in the Spring of 2014, I was young and my bank account was small. I had dreams of a Pinterest worthy home but was working on a Preschool Teacher budget. I’ve always been crafty and for as long as I can remember, a do-it-yourself-er. I started by up-cycling old furniture I’d find on craigslist or at thrift stores. First it was our nightstands and then our kitchen table, our entertainment stand, and eventually I realized I needed things to decorate our walls. Admittedly most of my inspiration came from the instagram accounts I was following; people who shared their up-cycled homes and DIY signs. One thing lead to another and I soon discovered the art of modern calligraphy. At the time I didn’t know that’s what it was called or that it was even a thing, instagram has come a long way since I first started. I was just a girl painting letters on wood, in the style I loved, in the hopes that I’d be happy enough with something to hang it on our walls. I shared my work, A LOT, and when others started to take interest I started to take my craft seriously. I eventually made my way into the wedding industry where my love for this art truly began to blossom. It’s been 6 years of constant practice, an astronomical amount of paintbrushes later, and I’m still wildly in love with the art of modern calligraphy.
